Scottish Winter Skills Courses 2010
This year we are running winter skills courses in the
Cairngorms, based out of Aviemore. This area offers our clients great access to the mountains without the need for long walks in. The Cairngorms also offers great scope for learning the basics right through to classic winter mountaineering with a wide choice of area's and routes to choose from. Aviemore also offers a great choice of accommodation to suit all budgets
Who are our Courses for ?
Our winter skills courses are an Introduction to Winter
Walking and are suitable for those who have some previous walking experience. You don't need any winter experience, but you should come along with a good level of general walking fitness to get the most of the course. All our courses are non residental.
Our aim is that you leave our courses with the confidence to tackle winter walks and the knowledge to try some easy winter climbing routes. All our staff are qualified and experienced Winter Mountain Leaders and MIC's.
3 day course Winter Skills Course

days. During these 3 days we'll teach you how to use crampons; techniques for walking on steeper slopes; ice axe arresting; cutting steps; emergency snow shelters; avalanche awareness; route choice and winter navigation skills. On day 3 we put together everything we've learnt over the previous days and undertake a mountain journey or scrambling day.
