What is a Typical Gorge Scrambling Wales Activity Schedule?
- Our gorge walking wales experience or gorge scrambling day is a full day.
- The Adventure Wales centre is only 20mins from Cardiff and Swansea, the perfect gateway to your Gorge Scrambling Cardiff experience day.
- 10am start to the day. Register and meet your instructors.
- Get all your kit, wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets.
- Travel to our gorge scrambling wales venue at Pontneddfechan, Neath on the edge of the Brecon Beacons national park which is only 30 minutes drive from our centre.
- After a safety briefing, enjoy a full day activity taking place in the Brecon Beacons in one of the most epic outdoor settings.
- Your epic experience day finishes at the venue approx. 3pm.

What do I need to bring for my Gorge Walking Experience?
When joining us for our Gorge Walking Wales experience days, we ask you to bring along just some simple personal items.
We ask you to try to have your swimwear already on when you arrive for your gorge scrambling experience day. This makes it easier for you to change into your gorge scrambling wetsuit. You will need also to bring along a towel for drying off after your activity.
In addition, we ask all participants to bring a pair of shorts that you can wear over the outside of your gorge scrambling wetsuit. This allows us to do some amazing bum slides and float downs which are not be missed as part of your day. For your feet we advise either trainers or walking boots to wear in the river gorge.
All you then need to bring is 100% attitude for our ultimate gorge scrambling in Wales experience.

The activity involves climbing, scrambling, swimming, sliding down rocks and jumping into pools. Most people find it challenging but achievable, and we’ll always offer easier or harder options depending on your comfort level.
A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, but no previous experience is required.
We supply helmets, wetsuits, buoyancy aids and any specialist safety gear.
Everything is checked and maintained regularly.
You’ll need:

A pair of old trainers you don’t mind getting wet (no sandals or flip flops).

A towel and a full change of warm clothes for afterwards.

Yes, gorge walking is a brilliant family activity.
Children from age 10+ can usually take part, as long as they’re confident in water.
We’ll adjust the session to suit the youngest or least confident members of the group.
Most of the time gorge walking runs in all weather – afterall, it’s an activity designed to get you wet anyway!
However, if water levels are unsafe due to heavy rain, we’ll either move to a safer location or offer an alternative adventure activity.
Typically it will last all day starting at around 10am and finishing around 3pm – we do offer half-day specials, but contact us for more information.
