Established in 2004, Adventures Wales has over 22 years experience running school residential trips across Wales. Our centre sits a stone’s throw from Porthcawl beach, with the Brecon Beacons National Park a short drive away – putting world-class outdoor adventure right on the doorstep.

A Typical School Adventure Week Itinerary
Every school and class is very different. So at Adventures Wales Activity Centre we like to offer a bespoke residential adventure package. This is based on your needs, objectives and budget. However to give you a starting idea of the type of school adventure holiday we can offer, we have included one of our popular programmes below.
A Typical Activity Week
Monday:
Arrive mid day at our adventure centre. Introduction to the staff, site layout, orientation and allocation of rooms. This is followed by a half day of outdoor pursuit style activities. Typically includes team games, problem solving & our unique and ever popular mini Olympics !.
Evening dinner is served each evening at 6pm with an opportunity for an evening activity session.
Tuesday:
7.30am: Breakfast can be served at your convenient time.
9am: Each morning transport will arrive to take you to adventure activity venue. Example: Beach Day at Porthcawl.
10am – 4pm: Each day finishes around 4pm with a break for lunch mid day. Beach Day including Surfing Lessons for schools, Giant XXL SUP and beach games.
4.20pm: Transport back to accommodation
6pm: Evening dinner at 6pm, again with an opportunity for classroom or evening sessions.
Wednesday: Gorge Scrambling for schools residential trips & Rock Climbing Day
Thursday: On site Day including Laser Tag for school residential trips, High Ropes Course for school adventure holidays, Team Problem Solving and muddy assault course school activity programme.
Friday: Easy Morning with debrief and feedback session.
Mid day: Depart back to school

Our school residential programmes are built around a wide range of outdoor activities, all delivered by qualified instructors at our Porthcawl centre and the surrounding Brecon Beacons. Activities available for school groups include gorge scrambling, coasteering, kayaking, raft building, archery, rock climbing, abseiling, surfing lessons, quad biking, muddy assault course and low ropes. Every programme is tailored around your year group, objectives and budget – we work with primary schools, secondary schools, Duke of Edinburgh groups and NCS teams across Wales and the south west of England.

How much does a school residential trip cost?
Pricing depends on group size, number of nights and activities chosen. We build bespoke packages around your school’s budget and objectives – contact us for a tailored quote. As a guide, most school groups book 2-3 night residential programmes with full catering and accommodation included.
Is Adventures Wales AALA licensed?
Yes. Adventures Wales is a fully licensed AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority) outdoor pursuits centre. All instructors are fully qualified, DBS checked and First Aid trained. Risk assessments are available on request for all activities.
How many pupils can you accommodate?
Our residential centre can cater for groups of over 220 people across three accommodation options – The Lodge, The Bunkhouse and The Chalet. We can accommodate mixed groups with separate male and female dormitories and en-suite facilities available.
When should schools book?
School residential trips in Wales book up quickly for the summer term. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to secure your preferred dates. We also take bookings for autumn and spring term residentials throughout the year.
