The Route

Four Waterfalls, One Unforgettable Circuit

Each waterfall has its own character. Your guide will walk you through all four on a 4.3 miles circular route through the hidden Waterfall Country of the Brecon Beacons.

Sgwd Clun Gwyn waterfall Brecon Beacons
1

Sgwd Clun Gwyn

The Afon Mellte disappears clean over a clifftop edge. The path steepens just before you reach it — worth every step.

Walking under Sgwd Isaf Clun Gwyn waterfall
2

Sgwd Isaf Clun Gwyn

Smallest of the four but often voted the most charming. A horseshoe of cascading water at the bottom of a black-rocked canyon.

Walking along Sgwd Yr Pannwr waterfall
3

Sgwd Yr Pannwr

The tallest of the four. The Afon Mellte drops hard to the canyon floor — the sound gets you before the view does.

Sgwd Yr Eira

The main event. Walk behind the waterfall curtain — photographs here are consistently the best of the day.

What People Say

Real Groups. Real Reviews.

★★★★★
"The guide was brilliant — knew every inch of the route and kept our group of 15 together the whole way. The moment you walk behind that last waterfall is genuinely jaw-dropping."
Sarah T. — walking group, Cardiff
★★★★★
"We took 28 Year 9 students and Adventures Wales handled everything professionally. The guides kept the kids engaged throughout. Will be booking again next year."
Mr Evans — Head of Outdoor Education, South Wales secondary school
★★★★★
"Did this as a corporate day out. Far better than a bowling alley. The walk opened up conversations that three years of team meetings hadn't managed. Book it."

FAQ

Common Questions

Is the walk suitable for children?

Yes. The route is accessible for most ages — the majority is flat walking alongside a river. There are a couple of short steep sections and some uneven ground near the waterfalls, but our guides manage the pace and help everyone through the trickier bits. We've run walks with primary school groups and families with young children.

Where exactly do we meet?

The walk starts at Pontneddfechan car park (postcode SA11 5NR). Full directions are sent on confirmation of booking. There is parking on site.

What should we wear and bring?

Waterproof footwear is strongly recommended — the path can be muddy and some sections near the waterfalls are wet underfoot. Bring layers, waterproof jacket, and food and water for the day. There are no shops or cafes on the route.

Do you offer school group pricing?

Yes — we have a long track record of running school and youth group walks and can provide tailored pricing for larger groups. Contact us with your group size and preferred date and we'll put a quote together.

How many people can you take in one group?

We work with groups of all sizes. For very large groups we typically split into sub-groups each with their own guide. Get in touch and we'll work out the best arrangement.

Can we combine the walk with other Adventures Wales activities?

Absolutely. The Four Waterfalls Walk pairs well with a range of other activities as part of a full day or weekend away. Let us know what you're looking for when you enquire and we'll put together options.
